We run food bank at St James’s Bushey from January, on Friday mornings, on a trial basis. If you know of a family who would benefit from a food parcel please contact us: email@example.com or call 07484 802893. To donate some food, there is a cupboard in Church House (cream building on Bushey High Street by St James's Church).
We're really excited that we have launched our community café with the help of a grant from Hertsmere Council and space from Little Reddings School. The café is open for everyone and costs are kept low so people can have a coffee and a catch up without breaking the bank. A craft corner provides space for creativity (or to occupy your little ones). If you have questions ask Anne Underwood or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We have had a great time giving out free hot chocolates in Little Reddings playground in the last months. We see over 100 children, plus teachers and parents each week. It’s really encouraging that we have been able to keep buying the resources we need for this with the donations made by those who enjoy them.
We have loved working with Little Reddings Pupils this year and hope to continue to develop working creatively in our community. We are excited at the possibility of working more closely with those who organise Bushey Festival to showcase creative work by our young people. Please see the photography page to see some of their work.
Youth Cafe for 11-16 years
We are grateful to Inspire Watford for their generous grant to help set up a Youth Café. We are persevering in trying to find an inclusive venue for our young people and are currently exploring the possibility of using a converted double decker bus.
Provision for those over 60 years
We are grateful to Bushey District Day Centre for their generous donation to Storey and Collins Court of a television that can be used for community gatherings. We are currently exploring the idea of a drop in café at Storey Court to include those who are not able to access other provision in Bushey. We would love to hear from those in the community who are aware of provision that is lacking or have ideas that we might be able to support.
